Exhibition Reflection
At the start of Exhibition, I was a little nervous because I had three different Exhibition roles the whole night and explain all about the "In Sickness And In Health" project. My first role was a docent and I started by giving my family a tour of the Exhibition. I told them about the 4 major diseases my class studied (diabetes, neurological disease, cancer, and cardiovascular disease), the biology projects, the infographics, and all of the other projects that were on display during Exhibition. At the end, they really liked learning from me and my class all about what we did for each of the projects. I was very pleased with how I did with my family and I continued to do well with my other roles too! I learned that I just have to be confident and prepared for things like Exhibition.
Some of the things that I contributed for this Exhibition are help hang up art pieces, set up the scientist interview folders, being a docent, and writing up the content for the project information cards. I helped hang up art pieces like the "Pieces of Me" because I wanted to help set up. Setting up the scientist interview folders took longer because I had a little bit of trouble inserting sheet protectors into each folder. I did a good job on the project information cards because I got a lot of feedback from my peers about them. Some of my classmates misunderstood the feedback I was getting, but I got it all sorted out in the end. Finally, being a docent was fun because I got to show different people all of the Exhibition projects and have them learn about the various diseases.
The thing that I am most proud of achieving during this Exhibition was interacting with different parents while being a docent. I felt prepared with what I was going to tell parents about the Exhibition, even though I was a little nervous at the beginning. While I was a docent, I felt like I was engaging the other parents while I was giving them the tour. The parents were very interested with what I was saying and I felt happy that I was interacting with them.
One of the lessons that I learned from this project was to do some parts of an assignment early, even if the assignment wasn't assigned to you yet. For example, I did my interview transcription on day it was assigned, but it wasn't enough time before the upcoming project deadline. I had to stay up past 1:00 P.M a couple of time just to transcribe my entire interview. I didn't get all of it done, but my teacher gave me an extension to mend my interview and make it shorter. Doing assignments early, even if there isn't project deadline can be beneficial because you stay ahead of the game and not stress out in the long run whenever there is a project deadline.
